WHAT IS VTE?VTE:Venous ThromboEmbolism
VTE is a common term used to describe the formation of a blood clot (thrombus) which blocks a vein; thereby preventing blood from circulating.
VTE:DVT&PTETwo clinical manifestations of VTE
DVT:Deep Venous Thrombosis is a kind of Venous reflux disease caused by abnormal coagulation of blood in Deep veins.
PTE:Pulmonary ThromboEmbolism is the most common type of Pulmonary embolism (PE).
DVT of proximal lower extremity is the main source of PTE thrombus.DVT and PTE are different manifestations of the same disease in different stages and different parts.
Clinical manifestations of VTEVTE is a disease related to blood vessels, and blood vessels are distributed throughout the body. Therefore, thrombosis in different parts will have different clinical manifestations.
Lower limb blood vessels: lower limb blood vessels mainly include lower limb superficial veins and deep veins. After thrombosis, phantom limb pain, redness, tenderness and edema often occur. If it is serious, it will be accompanied by local infection or systemic infection, such as local continuous swelling and pain, systemic fever, etc.
Pulmonary artery: if the blood vessel blocks the pulmonary artery, we also call it pulmonary infarction. Its severity and clinical manifestations mainly depend on the number of blocked blood vessels. If a large area of pulmonary infarction occurs, patients will have serious clinical manifestations such as dyspnea, shock, and even sudden death. If only a small number of blood vessels are blocked, there may be no specific clinical manifestations.
